Master of Counter Terrorism with the degree of Master of Criminology
Changes to society and technology have increased our vulnerability to terrorist attacks and have given unprecedented power to terrorists. Governments and businesses need analysts who have the knowledge, skills and creativity to understand terrorists and the dynamic and complex systems that terrorists are leveraging.
Our counter terrorism and criminology double degree draws from fields, including sociology, psychology, psychiatry and social anthropology, to understand better, measure and evaluate crime of all types. You’ll learn who commits crimes, their motivations for doing so, how society responds to such crime, and how the impact of crime can be alleviated. We’ll also equip you with a practical skill set to analyse and design strategies and policies to address domestic, regional and international counter terrorism challenges.
Part of what makes Macquarie future focused is that we allow you the freedom to explore your interests across a range of areas, rather than lock you in to a single, narrow field. So follow your passions and tailor your course to your needs and interests.
Units are what we call subjects. Most full-time students take four units – each worth a fixed number of credit points – per session.
Most postgraduate courses require a successfully completed Australian bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution and may also require a specific grade point average (GPA). Our admissions team will determine whether your qualification meets the requirements.
