George Mitchell School is a popular and successful All-through school, educating children across three phases: Early Years, Primary and Secondary. We have almost 1000 children from nursery age to Year 11. Being an all-through school gives us great opportunities to tailor our curriculum and provision to the needs of every child and we are continuously looking at ways to stretch and challenge our students.
Our motto ‘More is in Me’ applies to everyone in our school community. We expect and encourage students, staff and families to push beyond themselves to improve their skills so that our students are given the best learning opportunities in school and at home. At George Mitchell School we expect our students to develop
We aim to provide an aspirational and excellent academic environment that supports students to make sustained progress from Nursery to Year 11. In our school, learning comes first.
Through their time at George Mitchell School, we want our children to develop the confidence to take on new challenges and resilience to overcome difficulties. We want them to understand how to take up an effective role in Modern Britain and develop an awareness of wider world issues.
We want our students to leave George Mitchell School as secure and healthy individuals who are self-reliant, assured and motivated to succeed in life. We will ensure they are equipped with the skills necessary to explore the many opportunities available to them in the world today.
George Mitchell School is a popular and increasingly successful mixed, multicultural comprehensive school with a nursery, attended by children who mainly live in the local area, although some do come from further afield. We are very well served by public transport, and are located on two sites – on Byron Road and Farmer Road. We are very much a community school, at the hub of the local community, and a haven in which our children feel especially safe, happy and valued.
We are a school-based nursery for children aged 3 and 4 years old. Our Nursery is a friendly, caring and stimulating space where each child is treated as the unique individual they are and given the best possible foundations in order to thrive and excel. Our Early Years setting has been consistently audited as providing an excellent environment which both nurtures and challenges.
