St Lorraine Education Institute

St. Lorraine is a dedicated academic community providing particular emphasis on arts, sciences and languages. We promote learning in an international environment with high, but realistic, standards in education. We educate and challenge the “global child” in a warm and caring environment that helps each child reach his/her full potential.

Our curriculum is heavily influenced from the educational standards from the United States and the United Kingdom. Our syllabus is both international and dynamic, and we work regularly with overseas schools from Wales (U.K.), Florida (U.S.), and the Gold Coast (Australia) to enrich our teaching curriculum. Please feel free to click below for press cuttings on our international projects. (Clifton Times + PRC newspapers).

Arts and creativity: Recently, our children participated in the 2006 Pre-school English Drama Competition and took 1st place among competing schools in Hong Kong. Yet, in addition to territory-wide competitions, we encourage children to take part in international projects to help children expand their horizons and make new friends. For example, our young artists are currently creating artistic work to be exhibited at the Modern Art Oxford Gallery in September 2008. We are also taking part in a similar Children’s International Arts Festival in Hong Kong next year.

Science and technology syllabus: We make science fun through various trips and projects. In addition to normal experiments done during class, we enrich our syllabus through various activities like:

Space-Camp: Our children learn about the solar system, the constellations and other galaxies. At the end of space camp, our little “rocket scientists” launch rockets 600ft. into the sky (under the supervision of our teachers).

As a global school, we believe that it is imperative to take into account both local and international academic standards in our curriculum.

Our assessments take place internally twice a year during January and June. However, a vast majority of our children take part in external assessments like 1) the Junior English Tests and 2) the Cambridge Young Learners English Tests. and 3) the Mathematics segment of the Stanford Achievement Tests 10th Series (U.S.A.).

As you can see, our students outrank older children of higher grade levels. We are all very proud of our children's academic achievements.
